Seattle U rolls into Beasley, and the Cougs get a midweek tune-up
Seattle U rolls into Beasley Coliseum on a Wednesday, and that means the Cougs get a midweek tune-up before the real work starts. This isn't a rivalry game. It's not a conference showdown. It's a chance to tighten the rotation, work on the defensive rotations that got sloppy last week, and let the bench see some extended minutes against a team that will fight but probably won't threaten the lead.
You know the type of game. The kind where you check the score at halftime, see a comfortable margin, and start wondering if the second unit can hold it. That's fine. That's what these games are for. David Riley gets another look at his guys in a live setting, and the crowd gets to be loud about something other than a late-game collapse.
Pullman in December is cold and dark by tip-off. The students are gone for break, but the locals will fill the lower bowl. They know a tune-up when they see one, and they know the Cougs need this one to stay sharp. No drama. No national spotlight. Just basketball on the Palouse.
Let's handle business, get some guys some confidence, and get out clean. Go Cougs.
