Cougs hammered out a season-best 61 kills and still needed every one
Sixty-one kills. That's a season best for the Cougs, and they needed every single one of them to get the job done. You don't hammer out that kind of offensive output by accident. Somebody was feeding the hot hand, and somebody else was swinging with confidence. This was not a night for finesse. This was a night for putting the ball on the floor, and they did it over and over until the other side couldn't answer.
That kind of stat line usually means the defense had to work, too. You don't need 61 kills unless the other team is scoring right back. So give the Cougs credit for finishing, but don't pretend it was easy. They earned every one of those swings.
If you want the full weekend picture, go back and check out our coverage from the Cougar Classic Day Two. We talked about Pullman still standing and plenty to talk about. This match fits right into that conversation. The Cougs are figuring out who they are, and right now they are a team that can win a shootout. That is a good thing to know.
Go Cougs.
