Swimming Cougs take on the Rockies and MPSF open water
Swimming Cougs are trading the pool deck for a mountain lake. The MPSF Open Water Championships send the team into the Rockies later this month, trading lane lines for a course marked by buoys and, presumably, a lot of cold. Open water is a different animal. No walls to push off. No lane rope to follow. Just you, the water, and the other swimmers trying to find the same finish line. Pullman doesn't exactly offer alpine training conditions, so this is a real test of grit and navigation, literally. The Cougs have already shown they can handle a pool. They cleaned up in Seattle to open the season, and if you missed that one, go find "Cougs Open the Pool Season by Cleaning Up in Seattle" for the full rundown. This meet is a different kind of challenge. No splits. No flip turns. Just a long, cold swim and the will to finish in front. That kind of racing builds something you can't get from a heat sheet. Go Cougs.
