Tight first half fades as Arizona pulls away from Cougs 34-24

Tight first half fades as Arizona pulls away from Cougs 34-24. That's the headline, and it tells you everything about Saturday night in Tucson. For thirty minutes, the Cougs looked like they could hang. Maybe even steal one on the road. Then Arizona remembered who they are, and we remembered who we are right now. The second half wasn't ugly, but it was decisive. The scoreboard doesn't lie, and it doesn't care how close it felt at halftime. This one stings because it wasn't a blowout. It was a game that slipped. The kind where you walk away thinking about two or three plays that could have changed everything. That's the difference between a tough loss and a bad one, and I'm not sure which this is yet. If you want the full breakdown of what went wrong on offense, our guy Kirby Moore breaks it down in his postgame piece. It's worth a read if you're still trying to figure out why things stalled. And for the stuff that doesn't show up in a box score, we've got that too. Next up is Fresno State on the Palouse as the Cougs kick off the new Pac-12 era. That one matters. This one? It's a loss you learn from or a loss that lingers. We'll find out which soon enough. Go Cougs.
