Recommend me some good wool sweaters made to last a lifetime

My partner spends a lot of time outdoors in Minneapolis and we are trying to buy fewer higher quality pieces for sustainability reasons. He needs one reliable half zip sweater that can be worn under jackets for long days but still looks decent for casual office time. Everything we have tried in the one hundred twenty to one hundred seventy dollar range stretches at the elbows or pills after one season. We want something comfortable for all day wear that will actually last four or five years of real use. Has anyone found wool sweaters with strong zippers and classic construction that have held up long term?
